Fair Trade- and organic-certified coffees from Guatemala are moderately common, as many smallholder producers have organized themselves into democratically run cooperatives and have achieved certification in part ot leverage the value of their coffee output. Guatemala's coffe sector sees participation from many groups of indigenous producers, who typically have a strong cultural connection with preserving and conserving the land and natural resources, making organic certification a relevant choice.

AAPICAFI
AAPICAFI is a cooperative located in the beautiful Huehuetenango region of Guatemala. This cooperative was established in 2013 and the name in English stands for “Association of Beekeepers and Coffee Growers”.
This Fairtrade and Organic cooperative has a strong environmental focus and is dedicated to preserving the environment for honey bees which are critical to the local habitat.
This is a relatively small coop for Guatemala with only roughly 24 producer members.
